Greetings from NHQE!

Eleanor Burns introduced the first “Quilt in a Day” book in 1978. Olfa invented the fabric rotary cutter in 1979. Debbie Caffrey introduced worms and noodles through her Open A Can of Worms and Noodle Soup books in the year 2001. In 2005 Daniela Stout started strip club at her Cozy Quilt Shop in El Cajon, CA. Cozy Quilt Designs, a pattern design company, grew as a result of this monthly club which needed patterns to use all these strips. So……. now we have a way to quickly and accurately cut 2” strips, a fast method (strip piecing) to put these strips together AND patterns designed to use these strips to make wonderful quilt blocks and designs. How could quilting get any better than this? What if someone chose the fabric and cut the strips for you? And then they chose the pattern to go perfectly with the fabric? That’s exactly what we’re going to do!

NH Quilters Emporium is launching our very own Strip Club to be held one Saturday morning each month. Truly, you won’t believe what we have planned. The projects are all beautiful and oh so easy! You will love the dramatic movement that is emoted from Kinetic Energy and Jacks Be Quick! We will choose the pattern and the fabric strips, and make a sample ahead of time so we can offer you “tips of ease” (not to be confused with “strip tease”) to make an already easy process just a little bit easier. Fields of Flowers, pieced with the Dandelion Girls Collection will have you creating your own personal garden. We will have you stitching through the seasons with the likes of color Falls, Autumn Braids and Cactus Wreath.

Saturday, April 26th at 9:00am we will gather at NH Quilters’ Emporium where Terry Burris will dazzle you with her interpretations of Kinetic Energy. Terry has made this lap size quilt in Black & Whites and in Shades of Blue so Terry is well qualified to show you how to make this quilt in a weekend using this easy strata technique. If there are any tips or suggestions to be made she’s the one to make them!

FYI - Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. An object which has motion - whether it is vertical or horizontal motion - has kinetic energy. There are many forms of kinetic energy - vibrational (the energy due to vibrational motion), rotational (the energy due to rotational motion), and translational (the energy due to motion from one location to another). The fabric use in this quilt gives the perception of motion, thus creating energy. What power! What fun!

The details: Strip Club is open to anyone and everyone; HOWEVER, you must sign up ahead of time so that we are sure to have enough fabric bundles for everyone. The price will vary a bit from month to month, but for the most part will hover around $40.00, which covers the cost of your fabric and pattern. When you arrive at NHQE we will have coffee and a breakfast snack ready for you, Terry will give you appropriate demos, hints, tips, etc. On your way out you will pick up your goody bag, which will contain your fabric, pattern, a free gift AND a coupon for a discount on the 4 Bs – that’s Background, Borders, Backing, and Binding. That’s right! Each month that you attend Strip Club you will receive a 10% off coupon. Coupon needs to be redeemed within 30 days of that particular Strip Club meeting.

So come on in, take a look at the Black & white sample of Kinetic Energy and sign up for our very first Strip Club meeting! For this first one you will have your choice of color ways; Black & White, Shades of Blue or Colors of the Sun (reds, oranges & yellows). Hurry, time is running out!
